Iran is building a “defense tunnel” in its capital Tehran, Iran’s semi-official Iranian news agency Tasnim reported today, following recent Israeli strikes on targets in the country.
The tunnel, located near the city center, will connect a Tehran metro station to the Imam Khomeini Hospital, allowing direct underground access to the hospital.
“For the first time in the country, a tunnel with defense applications is being built in Tehran,” the head of transportation at the Iranian capital’s municipal council told Tasnim.
Last month, Israel launched a raid on military targets in Iran, in its first strikes on the country it officially recognized. These targeted missile factories and other sites near Tehran and in western Iran, and were in retaliation for the missile barrage Tehran unleashed on Israel on October 1.
