A foreign national was arrested yesterday afternoon at Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” for possessing a significant quantity of narcotics.

According to the Greek Police (ELAS), the individual is a member of an international criminal organization involved in importing processed cannabis (known as “chocolate”) and Ecstasy tablets into Greece through the airport, with the intent of distributing the substances further.

The arrest was part of targeted operations by the Anti-Narcotics Subdivision, which utilized data analysis and profiling techniques to identify suspects. The accused was apprehended in the airport’s arrivals area upon arriving from a foreign country.

Details of Seized Items:

  • Processed cannabis (“chocolate”): Total net weight of 7.84 kg.
  • Ecstasy tablets: Approximately 4,770 pills.
  • The drugs were meticulously concealed within various clothing items and shoes inside the suspect’s luggage.
  • A mobile phone was also confiscated.

The suspect was brought before the competent prosecutorial authority.
