About 6,000 police officers and members of the gendarmerie will be deployed on Saturday and Sunday to guarantee security for the ceremonies to reopen the Cathedral of Cathedral of Notre Dame de Paris, which is expected to be attended by about 50 heads of state and government.
During a press conference, Paris police chief Laurent Nunes announced that “6,000 people (police, gendarmes)” would be deployed over the weekend, a mobilization similar to the opening ceremony of the Olympics in July.
The ceremony to reopen the cathedral – to which celebrities and heads of state have been invited – is planned to take place on the afternoon of December 7 and will be followed by special services to celebrate the reopening of the cathedral and to thank all those who helped save and rebuild it.
