A police officer arrested for a serious case of drug trafficking in Thessaloniki has been remanded in custody following his testimony to the investigating judge.
He faces felony charges for aggravated drug trafficking. His co-defendant, a civilian also arrested in connection with the same case, is similarly charged with drug trafficking and will also be imprisoned.
According to reports, the two were apprehended in the Asprovalta area during a police operation conducted by the Northern Greece Internal Affairs Directorate. A total of 164 grams of cocaine, gross weight, was found in the vehicle they were traveling in.
The same sources indicate that the drugs were likely procured earlier from Thessaloniki.
The police officer reportedly denies the charges. In contrast, his co-defendant admitted to possessing the cocaine but claimed it was intended for personal use. After their testimonies, both were remanded in custody and are being sent to prison.
