The 30-year-old driver of the car, who had been transferred to KAT hospital with severe injuries after a dramatic chase on Kifisos Avenue, lost his battle for life. The chase began in Zephyri and continued as the driver entered the national highway, where he collided with a truck.

According to information, the 30-year-old Roma man had been wanted by the police after a complaint from his mother about a threat, which was reported to the Domestic Violence Office at the Acharnes Police Department.

The chase started when the Roma man ignored a police signal to stop for a check at the intersection of Liosion and Mornou Streets and sped off to flee.

During the pursuit, the 30-year-old lost control on the national highway and collided with a truck near Nea Filadelfeia.

The driver was rescued with the help of a hydraulic rescue tool by firefighters and transferred to KAT hospital, where he later passed away.

“He Tried to Kill Us”
“He was driving the wrong way on the national road, trying to kill us near Metamorphosi, and then he had a head-on collision with a truck near Filadelfeia,” described an eyewitness to the pursuit to protothema.gr.

The images from the scene are shocking, showing the intensity of the accident and the efforts of the rescuers to extricate the 30-year-old.
