Severe weather conditions remain both today Thursday and tomorrow Friday with northerly winds dominating through the Aegean and with a new wave of bad weather heading our way on Sunday from the northwest.
The detailed weather forecast for today
A cold front extending from eastern Ukraine to the southern Adriatic is moving east. In the new twenty-four hours (Thursday), with the passage of this front from northern Greece, in our region gradually north-northwest winds with intensity up to 6 Beaufort (Dodecanese) will prevail and the temperature in Macedonia, Thrace and the NE Aegean will drop slightly. Regarding the possibility of rain, the chances are few and limited in NE Greece.
There are chances of low temperatures in the north and south-east of the country.
On Friday (13/12), light localized showers are expected in Halkidiki, the Northern Sporades, Attikovoiotia, Evia, E-Eastern Peloponnese and Northern Crete. Winds will blow N-NE in the west 3 to 4 and in the east 5 to 6 Beaufort. The temperature will not change significantly.
On Saturday (14/12), the new element in the weather development will mainly concern W-NW Greece, where the winds will shift to S-SE and in the afternoon and evening hours there will be rare showers and local thunderstorms. At night, local showers will occur in Thessaly and Macedonia.
Christmas weather
Finally, regarding Mr Marousakis’ initial estimates for the Christmas weather, it is expected to be “unsettled, rainy at times” without being particularly cold.
