Municipality of Athens: License plates return starting today

In order to facilitate their travel for the Christmas holidays

Newsroom December 20 01:00

From Friday, December 20, 2024, vehicle owners in Athens will have the opportunity to collect their license plates that had been removed by the Athens Municipal Police. This will help facilitate their transportation for the Christmas holidays.

License plates will be returned after payment of the corresponding fine and submission of necessary documents (vehicle registration, insurance certificate, ID card, passport, or notarized authorization if someone else is collecting the plates) at the Athens Municipal Police offices (Ag. Konstantinou 14, 1st floor), from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

License plates and driving licenses removed for violations related to anti-social parking (parking on ramps for people with disabilities, R-71, R-72), as well as cases involving judicial decisions, will not be returned.
