A Guinness World Record-worthy vasilopita appeared at the Town Hall Square in Peristeri: It weighs over 10 tons and consists of more than 70,000 pieces.
Several coins were hidden inside the vasilopita, offering gifts to the lucky winners. In fact, the pieces of the vasilopita… vanished in approximately one hour, according to ERT.
The exact weight of the vasilopita is 10 tons and 400 kilograms. To make it, the following ingredients were used: 9.5 tons of flour, 1,900 kilograms of oil, 5,700 eggs, 600 kilograms of sugar, and 600 kilograms of powdered sugar.
In a festive atmosphere, the mayor of Peristeri, Andreas Pachaturidis, handed out pieces of the vasilopita together with municipal employees. The massive cake was created with the participation of local bakers and students from the Public School of Bakery and Pastry in Galatsi.
