European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen suffers from pneumonia and has decided to cancel some of her commitments this month, a spokesman for the Commission said.

“He is suffering from pneumonia. As a result, she has cancelled some engagements for the first two weeks of January, including a speech in Lisbon and a trip to Gdansk,” Stefan de Kersmecker said.
