SYRIZA Progressive Alliance will immediately submit an amendment to Parliament to abolish the memorandum provision that reduced the income of public sector employees and to reinstate the 13th and 14th salaries in the Public Sector, stated Socrates Famelos during his visit to the National Rehabilitation Center in Ilion and his meetings with the administration and the workers’ union.
“Social prosperity requires fair and dignified compensation for workers.
We call on all progressive parties to support this initiative, and we also urge Mr. Mitsotakis to accept our proposal without delay.”
Statement by the President of SYRIZA – PS, Socrates Famelos from the National Rehabilitation Center:
“We visited the Rehabilitation Center in Ilion to highlight that it is a key structure of public health policy. A structure that should be multiplied with good examples throughout Greece because rehabilitation policy must be a part of public policy. We want to highlight the positive steps and the modern equipment, for which the SYRIZA government period has contributed, because we need good examples. We want to support the workers who need reinforcement, as the Rehabilitation Center and similar structures throughout Greece must not only be decentralized but also adequately staffed. With specialized personnel who can and should lower the average age of the workers in the National Health System.
Since workers are the core of social policy, I want to announce from here, from the Rehabilitation Center in Ilion, the SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance initiative to submit an amendment to Parliament so that the 13th and 14th salaries are returned to public sector workers. A staffed and equipped public sector means a strong state and a secure society. Greece deserves a society with security.”
