Maria Menounos visits mother’s grave with her daughter: “It hurts when you need her and she’s not there”

Maria Menounos visited her late mother's grave with her daughter, Athena

Newsroom January 27 09:00

In a heartfelt Instagram post on Saturday, January 25, the Greek-American TV host shared a photo of her 1.5-year-old daughter standing by her grandmother’s grave as the song “God Will Work It Out” played in the background. Menounos’ mother, Stavroula (known as Litsa), was born in Greece and later emigrated to the U.S., where she met and married Maria’s father. She passed away in 2021 at the age of 66 after battling brain cancer.

“Jenna was already dead when we went to the sea, I was in a panic,” claimed the 32-year-old woman in her testimony

In the caption of her post, Menounos wrote:
“It hurts when you need your mom, and she’s not there. It hurts when Athena grows and changes, and she’s not here to see it. This song always helps me get through it all. God works it out. Always.”
