Internationally, Andros took the top spot at the start of the year, as it topped the annual list of the award-winning travel site blogwanderlicious.co.uk, recently published on the best European destinations for pre-high season holidays.
Specifically, it urges its thousands of readers from the UK, US, Germany, and Australia to opt for Europe in April, pointing out that “climate conditions are favourable, the summer crowds are not prevalent, nature is in bloom and the experience is magical.”
Continuing the article, the blogger, hosted at the initiative of the Municipality of Andros and supported by the local business network CTN Andros, concludes that “Andros is number one on the list. The beautiful Cycladic island is not like the usual super tourist places but is more serene, greener, and dreamy in April. The hiking trails are on another level, taking you through lush green valleys, waterfalls, and spectacular viewpoints, while its untouched beaches are something special. Hora has gorgeous buildings, cute cafes, and museums, and Batsi is a great beachside option. An ideal destination for foodies, Andros is famous for its tavernas, local delicacies, local cheeses, and traditional recipes. The second largest island in the Cyclades will give you a perfect spring break, full of sunny weather and delicious food.”
The other places on the list include the Belgian city of Dinand, Rottenburg Oberauberg in Germany, Vienna, Vienna, Venice, Tenerife, Florence, Cotswolds in England, Warsaw, Dubrovnik, Bruges, Paris, Capri, Strasbourg and Iceland.
“Andros offers unique travel experiences outside of summer combined with quality places to stay and good food at reasonable prices. The range of options for exploring nature, picturesque villages, and excellent museums, just two hours from Attica, make the destination ideal in spring and especially this year when the Easter holidays will provide the opportunity for relaxation in April,”
said Nikos Moustakas, Andros Municipal Councillor for Tourism, who along with expert consultants had the opportunity to brief the award-winning blogger at the international tourism exhibition in London about the destination.
