Two years after its release, Greek Islands remains the top bestseller from Assouline Publications, continuing to captivate readers around the world. Its creator, Chrysanthos Panas, approached the project not just as a visual homage to the beauty of island Greece but also as a “tool” to convey its authentic essence.
“The key difference from other books in the series is that it presents the true reality of the Greek islands, without glossing over their imperfections,” Panas explains. “We didn’t alter the photos to remove, for instance, the street cables or the disordered buildings we all recognize. My goal was to highlight the contrasts that evoke a sense of freedom and show that the Greek islands are more accessible than a modern, highly organized environment.”
