Melania Trump was heavily criticized by the famous fashion magazine Vogue for her official portrait of the First Lady of the United States after her husband Donald returned to the White House in an article in which she likened her appearance to a look from the reality show “Apprentice” once hosted by the new US president.
“Melania Trump looked like a guest on the episode of The Apprentice rather than a woman taking on the role of First Lady,” Hannah Jackson wrote, among other things, for the portrait.
“Her choice to wear a tuxedo instead of a blazer or blouse made her look more like a magician than a public servant,” the Vogue editor continued her hammering of Melania Trump’s decision to pose wearing a black-and-white Dolce & Gabbana jacket and a wide Ralph Lauren belt.

According to Jackson, Melania, 54, refused with this appearance “to give up theatrics” as she lives in “a golden penthouse” and her reputation is “so intertwined with a reality TV empire.”
The review’s finale was just as sharp, with the Vogue editor writing that “at least this year’s portrait is an improvement over 2017 when her face was edited. Though this time the portrait is more “quiet,” the Trumps continue to show off their wealth not through diamond rings but through their front-row concentration of CEOs of tech giants with a cumulative fortune of more than $1 trillion.”
The cause and the reactions
This article may be a response by Vogue’s famous editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, after Melania Trump refused to be featured on the magazine’s cover.
The US First Lady had said at an unsuspecting time that she had no interest in being on the cover of Vogue. “I’ve been on these covers, of Vogue and other magazines. We have many more important things to do than a cover. It’s not going to change anyone’s life if I’m on a cover,” she had said on Fox.
Vogue’s comments, however, did not go unanswered by Melania Trump’s friends and supporters.
“She is stunning and very rarely misses the mark when it comes to fashion. Your opinion is about garbage and based solely on politics,” “Vogue you are pathetic. Melania is beautiful and elegant”, and “you are haters and your opinions are only political. You guys only loved Jill Biden” were some of the comments.
