Seismic activity remains persistent today in the Cyclades region. A striking example of the situation is the 17 earthquakes recorded within just three hours in the area between Santorini and Amorgos.
Protothema.gr is on-site in Santorini, documenting the ongoing landslides for another day, as concern among residents is evident. Thousands of people in Santorini have been forced to temporarily leave their homes for safety reasons. As the tremors persist, landslides are occurring in multiple areas across the island.

Speaking this morning, seismologist Athanasios Ganas stated that the ongoing seismic activity in Santorini, Anydros, and Amorgos ranges between 4.0 and 4.9 on the Richter scale. He also noted that a 4.8-magnitude earthquake occurred this morning, followed by a 4.9-magnitude quake at 04:45 AM. The scientist emphasized that this is actually good news, explaining that “it strengthens the swarm earthquake scenario, meaning we are unlikely to see a stronger quake.”
