Javier Bardem and Amy Adams are teaming up for a highly anticipated new production. “Cape Fear,” an Apple TV+ series, will reimagine the iconic 1962 and 1991 films, offering fresh performances and a modern take on the story. According to Variety, Apple gave the green light for the 10-episode series in November.
The show is based on John D. MacDonald’s novel The Executioners, which inspired the 1962 film starring Gregory Peck and Robert Mitchum, as well as the 1991 remake directed by Martin Scorsese, featuring Robert De Niro and Nick Nolte in lead roles.
The series’ official synopsis reads: “A storm is coming for happily married lawyers Anna (Adams) and Tom Bowden when Max Cady (Bardem), a notorious killer from their past, is released from prison.”
Amy Adams, a six-time Academy Award nominee, has been recognized for her roles in Vice, American Hustle, The Master, The Fighter, Doubt, and Junebug.
Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg will serve as executive producers alongside Bardem, Adams, and series creator/showrunner Nick Antosca.
