The local community of Sindos in Thessaloniki is in shock after the murder of a 44-year-old woman who was stabbed multiple times by her 53-year-old husband. The man killed his wife and then jumped from the balcony, leaving his last breath.
At the time of the murder, their two children, aged 16 and 21, were not at the apartment, while the youngest child was at school, according to information from protothema.gr.
According to the 44-year-old woman’s brother, who immediately went to the apartment after being informed of the murder, the couple had never fought and had no history of problems.
“They were quiet people,” he said.
At the same time, neighbors of the family reported that they had never heard any arguments in the past, nor on the day of the crime. One neighbor said, “They were quiet people,” and “I never heard a single voice raised.”
“We live in the neighboring apartment, and we never heard shouting or noise, nothing. They went to work, they were a family with children. We saw them on the balcony. I was shocked. I left in the morning and didn’t hear anything,” a neighbor added.
“They were new tenants, and the girl had asked us about a job. We told her to go to a factory that makes pastries. They hired her, and she even brought us some cheese pies,” the neighbor continued.
“I don’t know what happens next door. They never gave any signs. I never heard them argue. They didn’t have financial problems, both of them worked,” said a witness who lives in the building, noting that “they appeared to be a family.”
“What happened, what was behind it, only their close ones know. You always expect the unexpected from anyone, but when you see something horrifying, you’re shocked,” the witness concluded.
Died from uncontrollable bleeding
The 53-year-old Albanian man stabbed his wife in the stomach and neck while they were on the balcony. The woman died from uncontrollable bleeding.
Immediately after the murder, the perpetrator jumped from the balcony of the second floor, severely injuring himself. However, during his transfer to the Papageorgiou hospital, he passed away.
A forensic expert and a team from the Greek Police (ELAS) rushed to the scene.
