Telephone conversation between Pierrakakis and Eurogroup President Paschal Donohoe,

Commitment to fiscal stability and reforms is the only solid basis for the promotion of growth policies, the Finance Minister said

Newsroom March 20 10:00

The Minister of National Economy and Finance Kyriacos Pierrakakis had a telephone conversation with the President of the Eurogroup and Minister of Finance of Ireland Pascal Donahue today.

The two ministers exchanged views on the macroeconomic outlook, and international challenges and discussed agenda items for the upcoming Eurogroup and ECOFIN meetings in Warsaw on 11-12 April.

During their communication, emphasis was placed on the economic performance of the euro area, on financing the increased defense needs, as well as on promoting the digital aspects of monetary policy.

Kyriakos Pierrakakis referred in particular to the upgrade of the Greek economy by Moody’s and stressed that Greece will fully respect its commitments on surpluses, debt reduction and primary spending. As the Greek finance minister pointed out, commitment to fiscal stability and reforms is the only solid basis for the promotion of growth policies that will lead to the improvement of the lives of Greek citizens.
