Turkish authorities have arrested and lawyer for Ekrem Imamoglu, Mehmet Pehlivan, as part of an investigation into the corruption case for which the Constantinople mayor has been taken into custody.
Pehlivan was arrested on the basis of a warrant issued by the anti-money laundering department of the prosecutor’s office.
According to the statement, Imamoglu’s lawyer is being investigated for “laundering assets derived from criminal activity.”
After his arrest, Pehlivan was taken to a hospital in order to be examined by doctors, a procedure necessary to bring him to the police offices.
