More than 2.7 million citizens will benefit from two permanent economic support measures set to be implemented in November.
The first measure involves a €250 allowance for low-income pensioners, uninsured elderly people, and individuals with disabilities. The second measure provides for a refund of one month’s rent per year for those renting a primary or student residence. Both measures will be applied automatically based on tax and asset data from 2024, without requiring any application.
The total fiscal cost of the new package announced by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis reaches €590 million, and combined with the enhancement of the Public Investment Program, the total package exceeds €1.1 billion.
The €250 allowance will be paid to 1,440,731 beneficiaries, including pensioners who have reached the age of 65 by the end of the previous year, with a yearly family income of up to €14,000 for singles and up to €26,000 for married couples or those in cohabitation.
