The situation started unfolding that Monday afternoon when the 43-year-old refrigeration technician left his house in Keratsini to head to his workplace in Tavros.

About two months earlier, he had suffered a shoulder injury, and doctors, after examinations, decided that surgery was necessary to fix the problem. After visiting the doctor, accompanied by his father-in-law, Spyros left for work.

Hours passed without any word from him, and at some point, he sent a message to his wife, expressing his love for her and their daughter.
