Weather: High temperatures and dust persist today – Polar air mass is coming to bring down the mercury

Temperatures exceeded 35 °C yesterday in Crete - The EMY forecast for the weekend

Newsroom May 8 08:20

Temperatures locally will exceed 30 degrees Celsius, mainly in northern Crete, while African dust is moving in from the south and areas such as the Cyclades, Crete and the Dodecanese are most affected.

However, on Saturday a polar air mass will clear the atmosphere of dust, but will also bring the mercury down by up to 10 degrees Celsius.

According to George Tsatrafyllia, the mercury will reach 35 degrees locally by the end of the week, however, from Saturday the polar air jet stream will drop the temperature up to 10 degrees. In fact, Alpha’s meteorologist notes that next week temperatures will be much lower than the current ones.
