AADE inspectors at Customs have detected more than 81 kilograms of cocaine inside two containers of bananas. The containers came from Ecuador and were bound for the port of Thessaloniki.
Specifically, AADE inspectors of the 1st Thessaloniki Customs Office, while conducting regular random checks, detected, using a self-propelled X-Ray, suspicious organic substance in the refrigeration machines of the two containers with fresh bananas.
The value of the seized cocaine is estimated at approximately 2,250,000 euros.
Customs inspectors, in cooperation with the Central Port Authority of Thessaloniki proceeded immediately to the seizure of the drugs, with the investigation to identify the perpetrators continuing.
