The temperature exceeded 37 degrees, hail in Serres – The temperature will rise over the weekend

37 weather stations recorded maximum temperatures above 35 degrees on Friday while hail was falling in Petritsi - The weather forecast until Wednesday 11 June

The weather is…two-faced today Friday, with mercury topping 37 degrees Celsius, while hail fell in Serres. The temperature will remain at unseasonably high levels over the three-day period, with occasional showers in places.

According to Meteo, on Friday the maximum temperature recorded until 18:10 was in Kranidi where the mercury reached 37.2 degrees Celsius. In fact, 37 weather stations recorded maximum temperatures above 35 degrees.

There were 37 stations with temperatures of more than 37 degrees above zero.

In detail the maximum temperatures on Friday:

  1. Kranidi: 37.2 degrees Celsius
  2. Salamisa: 36.8 degrees Celsius
  3. Carditsa-city: 36,6 degrees Celsius
  4. Charokopeio-Kallithea: 36,4 degrees Celsius
  5. Scale of Messinia: 36,4 degrees Celsius
  6. Farsala: 36,2 degrees Celsius
  7. Mystras, Laconia: 36,1 degrees Celsius
  8. Argos: 36 degrees Celsius

Hail, clouds, rain and thunder

While in many parts of the country the weather was reminiscent of late summer, in parts of northern Greece the scene was very different. Specifically, in areas of Serres and central Macedonia just after noon, clouds began to darken, followed by rain, thunder and hail. Up to 36 degrees on Saturday

According to the EMY, the weather on Saturday will be generally clear with occasional clouds on the mainland in the midday-afternoon hours, when there will be localized rain and possible isolated thunderstorms in the mountains.

Winds will blow northwest 3 to 5 Beaufort, 5 to 6 and locally up to 7 Beaufort in the Aegean Sea. The temperature will not change significantly. It will reach 30 to 33 degrees Celsius on the islands and 34 to 35 degrees Celsius on the mainland and 36 degrees Celsius in some places in the interior.

Temperatures will rise on Sunday

On Sunday, June 8, the weather will be generally clear with a few local clouds in the continental mountains in the midday – afternoon hours when, mainly in the northern mountains, there will be local rainfall. The winds will blow north-northwest 3 to 5 and in the Aegean Sea locally 6 Beaufort.

The temperature will rise slightly, mainly in the west, and will remain high for the season. It will reach 32 to 34 degrees Celsius on the islands and 34 to 36 degrees Celsius on the mainland and 37 degrees Celsius in some places in the interior.

The forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday

On Tuesday, June 10, in western and central Macedonia, there will be cloudy weather with local rain or mixed thunderstorms and temporary improvement. In the rest of the country, generally clear weather with local clouds in the central and northern continental areas mainly in the midday – afternoon hours, when local rain will occur in the north and sporadic thunderstorms. Winds will blow from the north 3 to 5 and in the Aegean Sea 6, locally 7 Beaufort. The temperature will drop slightly.

On Wednesday, June 11, the weather will be almost clear, with local clouds in the central and northern mainland mainly in the midday – afternoon hours, when local rain will occur and isolated thunderstorms will occur. Winds will blow from the north 4 to 5 and in the Aegean Sea 6, locally 7 Beaufort. The temperature will drop slightly further, mainly in the east.
