When will the E65 motorway of Central Greece be ready

It concerns the last 46 km. of the motorway, in the Northern Section, starting from Kalambaka and reaching up to the Egnatia Odos west of Grevena

Newsroom June 7 10:42

By the first half of 2026, the Central Greece Motorway E65 will be completed and delivered to traffic. What is now under construction are the last 46 kilometres in the northern part of the road.

The E65, 182.1 km long, is one of the most important national projects, with a total budget of about 1.4 billion euros. The project being constructed by TERNA has the necessary capacity of a modern motorway with two (2) lanes of traffic in each direction, plus an Emergency Lane. It is being constructed entirely on a new alignment connecting Eastern and Western Greece. The connection with the Egnatia Odos will be made at the height of Grevena.

With the delivery of the new sections of the E65 in April 2024, 136 km of modern, safe motorway will be in traffic, from the E/C with the A.T.E. motorway (206.5 km) to the Kalambaka A/C. Important tourist destinations such as Meteora, Lake Plastira, Karpenisi, and  Trikala are now accessible quickly, easily and safely, while a new development dynamic will be given to the country’s core.

Under construction by TERNA, the last 46 km of the motorway, in the Northern Section, are under construction, starting from the Kalambaka A/K and will reach up to the Egnatia Odos west of Grevena. For their construction, there are (two) 2 central and (two) 2 supporting facilities with 780 staff and 440 project machinery and trucks.
