Natural disasters change the rules of business

In an ever-changing landscape, Eurolife FFH offers comprehensive insurance coverage to SMEs

Newsroom June 16 12:30

Entrepreneurship these days is faced with unpredictable events. A heat wave, a flood, an uncontrolled forest fire, or a random incident are enough to upset the normality. And as the climate crisis intensifies, so does the risk. Moreover, Greece is a country with a particular geological composition and a long history of seismic activity (the 6th most earthquake-prone country in the world) that makes it live under the “shadow” of natural disasters.

In recent years, more and more businesses have faced adverse impacts, not only in terms of infrastructure damage and loss of goods, but also in terms of loss of revenue, customer base, and credibility. According to the EAEE’s loss analysis for the period 1993-2023, annual losses to businesses from such events averaged 1,514 cases. The numbers speak for themselves, and behind them, all these businesses are trying to rebuild their daily lives.

In this landscape of uncertainty, insurance coverage is turning from an option to a necessity. It functions not only as a means of compensation, but as a tool of stability, resilience and resilience. It offers a protective net that allows the business to manage the unexpected, return to operations more quickly, and absorb financial losses with less impact. It is now part of the sustainability and growth strategy. It is the foundation on which the business can build to continue to create value even when circumstances change unexpectedly.

In addition, under current legislation, some categories of businesses will not be entitled to government compensation in the event of natural disasters if they do not have private business insurance covering earthquake, flood, and forest fire for all their assets – buildings, equipment, goods, and machinery.

How a business can protect its property
Eurolife FFH with its My Business First, gives businesses the solution to protect their corporate assets from the natural disasters mentioned above, as well as from other unexpected incidents, for example,e explosion, malicious act, etc.α. It provides civil liability, loss of earnings, technical assistance, and legal protection coverage, while being a flexible plan that can be tailored to the insured’s aspirations. More specifically, the basic package provides 14 coverages, and for even greater protection, there are 6 more optional coverages available.
In the case of an emergency, plan holders benefit from the Emergency Intervention Service, which provides immediate assistance to policyholders 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Finally, the My Business First program allows for zero deductible (meaning the insured does not participate at all in the loss) on certain coverages.
Eurolife FFH, recognizing the need of modern businesses for substantial support, offers, in addition to property insurance, a comprehensive insurance framework, namely:

Reparation of losses to third parties
Eurolife FFH’s liability plans provide coverage against third-party claims in the event of negligence, negligence or accidental or sudden events that may occur during the operation of the business premises.
