ELAS forces assisted in the rescue of civilians in 40 cases

The Palea Fokea is once again facing a fire nightmare with fire burning homes and woodlands.

As the flames dangerously approached residential areas, 112 issued an evacuation order for Thymari, Katafygi, Haraka, and Triantaphyllia. Forces of ELAS deployed to the areas and assisted in the evacuation of civilians in 40 cases.

Videos released from the operations depict police officers walking through burned streets and rescuing people and animals.

To extinguish the fire, 90 firefighters, along with teams of hikers, 28 vehicles, 8 aircraft, and 5 helicopters, are working to extinguish the fire.
