Donald Trump said he would “without any doubt” order the bombing of Iran again if Tehran continued its uranium enrichment program.
The US president responded to a reporter’s question whether he would consider the possibility of new bombing if US intelligence concluded that Iran may be enriching uranium to alarming levels.
He also responded to the statement by Iran’s supreme religious leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, that his country won the war, saying that Iran “suffered a crushing defeat.”
“Listen, you are a man of faith, a very respected man in this country. You must tell the truth: Iran has suffered a crushing defeat. And Israel was exhausted – they were both exhausted,” Trump said. On the ceasefire that went into effect earlier this week, he commented that “it was the right time” to end the war.
“Something will happen with Russia”
The Republican president estimated that “something will happen” and the war in Ukraine will be “settled”, citing a recent phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, without being more specific.
“We are working on it. President Putin called and said: “I would like to help you with Iran.” I replied, ‘Do me a favor, I’ll handle Iran. Help me with Russia. We have to sort it out.” And I think something will happen there,” he told reporters.
