Currently, 65 firefighters are battling the blaze, supported by two ground teams, 20 fire trucks, eight aircraft, and one helicopter conducting water drops. Volunteer firefighters are also assisting in the efforts.

The fire is burning near a campsite, according to information shared by the Lavreotiki Forest Fire Protection Service on Facebook.

Strong northern winds are driving the flames toward the Lovari area, prompting authorities to issue an emergency evacuation alert via the 112 service. The message reads:

“If you are in the area, evacuate towards Nikiti and follow the instructions of the authorities.”

The firefighting efforts are made more difficult by southeast winds, which continue to fuel the fire.
