A major police operation with 13 arrests took place in Aspropyrgos on Wednesday morning - shotguns, cartridges and wires for electricity theft were found

A video released by the Hellenic Police (EL.AS.) captures key moments from the major police operation carried out on Wednesday morning in Aspropyrgos.

In the footage, officers are seen entering homes through windows and doors, assisted by a specially trained sniffer dog to help locate evidence. During the searches, weapons are discovered hidden in the storage compartments of beds. Other clips show vehicles used by gang members that were seized during the operation.

Aspropyrgos: 13 Arrests in Major Police Operation – Weapons, Stolen Electricity, and Environmental Violations Uncovered

A total of 13 individuals from a settlement in Aspropyrgos were arrested during a special police operation carried out on Wednesday morning.

The arrested individuals face charges including – in some cases – electricity theft, weapons violations, breaches of environmental and sanitary regulations, as well as infractions of the Highway Code such as not wearing helmets.

During home searches, officers found and confiscated three hunting rifles, 53 cartridges, and a pistol holster. Meanwhile, a DEDDIE crew removed 200 meters of illegally installed electrical cables used for power theft.

Official Statement from EL.AS.

According to the Hellenic Police (EL.AS.), the operation was conducted to prevent and combat various forms of illegal activity in the area. It was organized by the Police Directorate of Western Attica and involved officers from multiple departments, including:

  • The Sub-Directorate for Crime Prosecution and Investigation of Western Attica
  • The O.P.K.E. (Special Suppression Anticrime Units)
  • The Investigation Team
  • The Police Operations and Traffic Directorates of Attica
  • A police canine unit
  • An unmanned aerial vehicle (drone)

As part of the operation, homes were searched, leading to the seizure of the aforementioned firearms and ammunition. Additionally, with the support of officials from the Environmental Protection Department of the West Attica Regional Unit, an on-site inspection was conducted. This revealed two violations of environmental laws related to pollution.

All those arrested were taken to the appropriate prosecutor’s office for further legal proceedings.
