From Greece to Spain and from southern France to Cyprus, NASA’s satellite system is tracking fire hotspots across the Mediterranean.

Each red dot in the satellite photos corresponds to a small or large front that is underway.

The images below correspond, in order, to the fronts that are ongoing today, in the last 24 hours, and in the last seven days. The latter is even more significant because the past week was one of the hottest of the summer, with the Balkans and Italy affected by several days of heatwaves.
