A key photograph from the video footage held by the Coast Guard—believed to show the little girl who was found dead early last Sunday morning on the beach of Palaio Faliro—has been revealed by protothema.gr.

Authorities are working to identify and locate the woman seen with the child, who also has two other, older children with her, as this woman is considered potentially crucial to solving the mystery.

Two videos currently in the possession of the Coast Guard show the woman with the two children and a third child in a stroller moving through the area in question. In a second video, recorded a few hours later, the woman is seen leaving the stroller empty in a park near the spot where the girl’s body was found.

The evidence, eyewitness accounts, and the clothing of the child in the stroller all indicate that it is likely the same little girl who was later found dead. The child in the stroller appears to be wearing the same long-sleeved, full-body swimsuit and pink pants as the girl found on the beach. The other two children, both boys, are wearing regular clothes.

However, Observing the Photo Raises Several Questions:

  • Why is the child in the stroller’s entire face covered with a hat, especially as it was already getting dark?
  • Why is only one of the three children—the one in the stroller—wearing a swimsuit? The other two are fully dressed.
  • The child’s head is slumped forward. Could she have simply fallen asleep during the walk? Or could something else have already happened? The forensic report concluded that the cause of death was drowning, and also noted sand inhalation. Could something have occurred before the woman and the children even reached the beach—assuming that the child in the stroller is indeed the one who was found dead?

It should also be noted that, according to the medical examiner, the deceased girl also suffered from a metabolic disorder.

The investigation by the Coast Guard and police has gathered not only video footage but also eyewitness reports about families with small children or adults accompanying children during the critical hours before the estimated time of the girl’s death in the Palaio Faliro beach area. However, authorities believe the key to identifying the girl and solving the case lies in the two videos and the photo revealed by protothema.gr.
