The body of Lena Samara, in a white coffin, was carried out of the church shortly after 1:40 PM, followed by her father, her mother Georgia, and her brother Konstantinos.
Those gathered outside the Church of Saints Theodoroi offered words of comfort, saying “stay strong” to Antonis Samaras and his family—words that had also been said to the former prime minister upon his arrival at the First Cemetery.
Present at the funeral were the President of the Republic, Konstantinos Tasoulas, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, and numerous ministers, members of parliament, and party representatives.

On August 11, 2025, reporter Kostas Stamou from protothema.gr reported that several former ministers from Antonis Samaras’s government have arrived at the First Cemetery of Athens for Lena Samara’s funeral.
Among those present were Theodoros Fortsakis, Chrysanthos Lazaridis, and Kostas Vlassis.
Also attending was Alexandros Samaras, Antonis Samaras’s brother and Lena’s uncle, along with his family.
The funeral brought together family, close friends, and many political figures who came to pay their respects.

The news of her unexpected death shocked the nation and the political world alike, with condolences pouring in from colleagues, friends, and public figures.

According to official statements, Lena suffered a sudden epileptic seizure which led to cardiac arrest. Despite immediate medical attention and all efforts by hospital staff, she passed away late that night.

Lena’s close friends and family shared touching tributes on social media. Her dear friend Lilian Vildiridi wrote on Instagram, “Safe journey, my angel. For me, you will always be unique. Twenty-nine years together… and now? Now? You suddenly flew to the neighborhood of angels…”

Her brother Kostas Samaras posted a deeply emotional farewell alongside a photo of the two of them.
