National Technical University of Athens: €681,551 funding for maintenance of building infrastructure

As part of its ongoing commitment to upgrading Higher Education infrastructure, the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports is allocating a total amount of €681,551.04 to the National Technical University of Athens, for the implementation of targeted maintenance, repair, and operational enhancement works at the Institution’s facilities.

By decision signed by Minister Sofia Zacharaki, 8 specific projects were approved, concerning critical infrastructure at the Zografou University Campus and the Patission Complex.

The interventions cover a wide technical spectrum ranging from energy and water supply systems to electrical installations, elevators, and green infrastructure. The funding falls under the Sectoral Development Program (SDP) 2021–2025 of the Ministry and concerns a series of projects to be carried out, addressing needs in both equipment and building infrastructure.

• Replacement of medium-voltage switchboard in substations of the Turbomachinery and Central Squares building – €74,160.00
• Maintenance of green spaces at Zografou Campus and Patission Complex for 10 months – €37,042.21
• Maintenance and repair of elevators with spare parts and consumables (7-month duration) – €161,195.79
• Ten-month maintenance and repair of generator sets at Zografou Campus – €36,046.80
• Supply and installation of components for proper operation of the BMS (Building Management System) (10-month duration) – €34,543.92
• General maintenance services and repair of faults in electrical substations (10-month duration) – €191,561.40

The entire set of projects forms part of an integrated framework for the technical support of NTUA’s facilities, ensuring the sustainability of infrastructure, the uninterrupted operation of academic and research activities, as well as the safety of students, staff, and visitors.

Through this decision, the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports reaffirms its commitment to supporting the real needs of Greek universities, strengthening in practice their technical equipment and operational adequacy.
