Weather: With northerly winds and highs around 33°C this weekend – Where rain is possible

High temperatures were recorded across the country yesterday, with the maximum reaching 36°C in the Peloponnese

The weather will remain mild in the coming days, with the northerly winds (meltemia) persisting and temperatures close to seasonal averages. Today, the mercury is expected to reach 35°C, while tomorrow a slight drop is forecast along with a chance of local showers in the west, mainly in mountainous areas.

36°C maximum yesterday in the Peloponnese
On Friday, September 5, high temperatures were observed nationwide, with the highest, 36.3°C, recorded in Skala Messinias. Other hot spots included Angelokastro in Aetolia-Acarnania (35.8°C) and Paranesti in Drama (35.5°C).

According to the National Observatory of Athens / meteo.gr network, temperatures exceeded 30°C at 291 of the 546 active stations (about 53%), and over 35°C at 5 stations. The average maximum temperature stood at 29.7°C.

Mostly sunny skies, with temporary cloudiness over inland mountain areas at midday and in the afternoon, where isolated showers may occur.

Thessaloniki: Sunny, light variable winds up to 3 Beaufort, temperatures 24–30°C.

Generally fair, with temporary clouds over inland areas in the afternoon, especially in the west, where local showers or thunderstorms may occur in mountainous regions. Visibility may be limited in the morning in western coastal areas.

Winds: from the north, 3–5 Beaufort in the west, 4–6 Beaufort in the east, and up to 7 Beaufort in the Aegean after midday.

Temperatures: Slightly lower, reaching 31–33°C on the mainland, 29–31°C in the Ionian, eastern Aegean and Crete, and 26–28°C in the Cyclades.
