A strong earthquake, felt in Attica, occurred shortly before 12:30 at night, with its epicenter, according to the first recording of the Geodynamic Institute, located in Nea Styra, Evia.
According to the first data, the tremor had a magnitude of 5.2 on the Richter scale in the sea area between Schinias and Styra, Evia. Specifically, the epicenter is located 4 kilometers southwest of Styra, and the focal depth at 2.3 kilometers.

According to Efthymis Lekkas, this is an area that does not produce large earthquakes, but ‘at this moment we are evaluating all the data in order to have more reliable information and assessments.’ At the same time, he stressed that aftershocks above 4 on the Richter scale are expected.
Giorgos Kelaiditis, Deputy Regional Governor of Evia, stated that he communicated with the local president in Nea Styra, adding that so far there have been no reports of damage. The tremor was strongly felt in Chalkida.
