The arrival of the first new generation frigate, the HS Kimon, and the conclusion of negotiations for the two Italian Bergamini frigates were mentioned by the Minister of National Defence, Nikos Dendias, speaking today at the inauguration ceremony of the Naval Cadet School‘s hospital.

Today’s ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister of National Defence Thanasis Davakis, the Deputy Minister of Maritime Affairs Stefanos Gikas, the State MP Admiral (retired). Evangelos Apostolakis, the Chief of the General Staff Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, the Chief of the General Staff Vice Admiral Dimitrios-Efthertherios Kataras PN, the Chief of the General Staff Vice Admiral (I) Demosthenes Grigoriadis, the Chief of the Coast Guard – Greek Coast Guard Vice Admiral L.S. Tryphon Kontizas, Fleet Commander Vice Admiral Christos Sasiakos PN, the Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Motor Oil Group, Ioannis V. Vardinoyannis.

It should be noted that the renovation of the School’s Hospital is a donation from the company MOTOR OIL, in memory of Nikos I. Vardinoyannis, who was a Hellenic Navy Officer. Other members of the Vardinoyannis family, executives of Motor Oil (Hellas), as well as Honorary Chiefs, Officers, Petty Officers and students of the School were also present.
