The familiar, golden-colored “veil” in the atmosphere has been facing the country’s citizens since Friday morning due to the concentrations of African dust that, according to the Athens National Observatory, are increasing these days.
“The atmospheric circulation favors the transport of African dust towards our country. The concentrations are not very large, but they become visible as a veil, giving dull colors to the atmosphere. Most of the dust will continue over the next two days, but will subside by the beginning of next week,” notes Kostas Lagovardos, meteorologist and director of research at the National Observatory of Athens.
