“National Remembrance Day of the Genocide of the Greeks of Asia Minor, which was established by unanimous decision of the Hellenic Parliament on 24/9/1998. We honor the memory of the victims and Hellenism of Asia Minor,” stated Minister of National Defense Nikos Dendias in a post on the social network X.
“He managed,” he emphasizes, “to stand back on his feet after the uprooting and to contribute greatly to the economic, intellectual, and social life of the country.”
Mr. Dendias’ post concludes with a reference to G. Seferis:
“… Who departed striking hooves on the slabs?
They abolished their eyes; blind.
There are no more witnesses, for anything.”
