Police officers in Kypseli were confronted with a horrific scene when they opened a suitcase and discovered a dead infant inside a container.

The incident began following a complaint by the owner of an Airbnb property on Thasou Street, who reported that the people who had rented the apartment were refusing to leave and had not paid the agreed rent, adding that they were using drugs.

According to information from protothema.gr, DIAS motorcycle police officers happened to be passing by when the owner stopped them and took them to the apartment. Inside were a man of Greek origin who had rented the property, his 15-year-old daughter, and an Afghan national.

Inside the apartment were also the two minors and the German wife of the owner, who had filed the complaint with the Greek police. Officers took two suitcases from the apartment and transported them to the police station.

According to the same information, officers at the station opened the suitcases and were confronted with a horrifying sight: a dead, frozen infant inside a container. When questioned by police, the owner’s German wife reportedly claimed that the infant was hers and that she had lost the baby eight months ago.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that the 15-year-old girl who was in the apartment is pregnant, and the father of the child is reportedly the Afghan national.

A preliminary investigation into the incident is underway, and a prosecutor has been notified.
