Response to Israeli Prime Minister‘s Benjamin Netanyahu on Jerusalem was given by Ankara through the mouth of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan‘s spokesman.

Addressing the Turkish president and reacting to his statements on Jerusalem, Benjamin Netanyahu had previously said: “We are here. This is our city. Mr. Erdogan, this is not your city, this is our city.”

Responding to the Israeli prime minister, the head of the Turkish presidency’s communications directorate Burhanuddin Duran said that “Jerusalem has never, throughout its history, submitted to either the crusaders or the imperialist powers,” adding: “This blessed city has been the scene of the greatest defeat of many ambitious and arrogant characters who claimed that it belonged only to them.”

The Turkish spokesman concluded by saying that “Netanyahu’s words are unsubstantiated.”

In an even harsher tone, ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) spokesman Omer Celik said that “the words of Netanyahu, the leader of the genocide network, targeting our president are invalid” and claimed that “these delusional statements, which consider Jerusalem their property, express hostility to all the values of humanity. The response to be given must be the response of the alliance of humanity.”
