Former President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou has been appointed Chair of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Festival, following an invitation extended to her by Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni.
“It is a great honor for the Ministry of Culture and the Hellenic Festival that former President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou has accepted our proposal to take over the leadership of the Festival,” Minister Mendoni said after visiting Ms. Sakellaropoulou at her office. “This year, the Festival enters its second 75 years—established, renewed, and with great prospects ahead. Her presence at the head of the Board of Directors brings prestige and vitality to the institution. I thank her sincerely.”
The Hellenic Festival, founded by Konstantinos Karamanlis, celebrated 75 years of operation this year, offering the global community a gateway to ancient Greek drama. Each year, the Festival’s events at the Theatre of the Asklepieion of Epidaurus and the Odeon of Herodes Atticus are among Greece’s most significant cultural highlights.
