Severe weather hits Skiathos – Watch videos of streets turned into rivers

Strong rainfall has caused problems in Skiathos, particularly affecting the road network

Newsroom November 5 03:46

Skiathos was flooded by heavy rain hitting the island, turning streets into rivers. The severe weather sweeping across the country in recent hours has created serious problems, especially on Skiathos, making vehicle passage nearly impossible.

Traffic is difficult even on the ring road, while in many areas the streets have turned into rushing rivers.

According to Skiathoslife, there are major difficulties in vehicle movement in several areas: Vasilias, Kassandra Hotel / Achladies / Kolios / Agia Paraskevi. The situation is particularly dangerous in the Platanias area, where a stream and the road have merged into one.

The highest rainfall recorded today occurred in Skiathos, and the phenomenon is still ongoing.

According to the meteorological network of the National Observatory of Athens / meteo.gr, the highest rainfall by 10:40 a.m. on Wednesday, 05.11.2025, was recorded at the Skiathos meteorological station, totaling 61.6 mm.

In an announcement, the Skiathos Police Department urged drivers to exercise caution when traveling on the Skiathos – Koukounaries National Road, specifically in the areas of Achladies, Vromolimno, Kolios, Ag. Paraskevi, and especially Platanias and Troulos. Travel with regular vehicles is not recommended, as many roads remain difficult to pass.

In contrast, the road to the Holy Monastery of Evangelismos remains open and, for now, does not present significant problems.
