Kyriakos Mitsotakis met on Thursday morning with his counterpart from Singapore, Lawrence Wong, and was received by the President of the Republic, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, at the Istana government complex in Singapore.
During the meeting with Mr. Wong, they examined the great prospects for enhancing bilateral cooperation in a wide range of sectors such as tourism, shipping, defense, and Greek exports, including agri-food products, while the broader prospect of investments in Greece was also discussed.

The two Prime Ministers also talked about cooperation and knowledge exchange on digital governance issues and the application of artificial intelligence in public administration.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis referred to the continuation and consolidation of reforms, emphasizing Greece’s dual role as an energy hub for the wider Southeast European region and as a provider of energy security for Central and Eastern Europe. In this context, the Prime Minister mentioned the recent agreement to supply Ukraine with American LNG during President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to Athens.
The two leaders also discussed common positions of the two countries, such as their commitment to the application of International Law and the Law of the Sea, the multilateral international system, and free trade. The Prime Minister expressed his support for strengthening EU-Singapore relations, which, as a member of the ASEAN group, plays a significant role in the rapidly developing Southeast Asia region.
At the start of their meeting, the Prime Minister and his Singaporean counterpart had the following dialogue:
Kyriakos Mitsotakis: “It is a real pleasure to be here; it has been a long time since the last visit of a Greek Prime Minister to Singapore. We are both maritime countries and two countries very interested in maintaining an international order based on rules. For us, it is very interesting to explain to the Asian audience what has happened in Greece over the last few years. We have begun to attract investments from Singapore as well. We certainly want to see these investment flows continue and be strengthened. So, it is a great opportunity to be here.”
Lawrence Wong: “And the economy is doing well under your leadership; we see it continues to take off. And we see many new opportunities in Greece, but also in Europe, due to the free trade agreement and various agreements between the EU and Singapore that are already in effect. Through these, we want to strengthen our economic relations.”
The Prime Minister was then received by the President of Singapore, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, with whom he exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis also met with the Metropolitan of Singapore and South Asia Konstantinos and representatives of the Greek community.
