Storm Byron continues to bring heavy rainfall and thunderstorms across much of eastern and southern Greece, affecting the country from Friday, 05-12-2025, through Saturday noon, 06-12-2025.
The rainfall will not only be intense but also long-lasting, with many areas experiencing localized hail and strong gusts of wind at times.

The weather system BYRON is causing severe weather primarily in eastern Greece. Specifically, heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in:
- Central Macedonia
- Thessaly and the Sporades islands
- Eastern Aegean islands (from Chios southward) and the Dodecanese
- Cyclades and mainly the western and southern parts of Crete, until early afternoon
- Central and eastern mainland Greece (including Attica) and Euboea, until early afternoon
These areas will experience particularly severe and potentially dangerous conditions (red alert):
- Regional units of Pieria, Imathia, Pella, Chalkidiki, Thessaloniki
- Thessaly and the Sporades
- Eastern Aegean islands (Chios and southward) and the Dodecanese
- Until early afternoon, Euboea

From early morning, storm intensity is expected to weaken in most areas and become more localized:
- Central Macedonia (regional units of Pieria, Imathia, Pella, Chalkidiki) until morning
- Dodecanese (from Samos southward) until midday
