The municipality of Florina has been declared in a State of Civil Protection Emergency, in order to handle the consequences of the floods and landslides that resulted from the intense weather phenomena that occurred in the area between December 3 and 8.
The state of emergency is valid from the date the phenomenon occurred (December 3) until March 3, 2026. The request was submitted by the mayor of the city, Vasilis Giannakis, to the Region of Western Macedonia and was then forwarded to the General Secretariat for Civil Protection, where it was approved by the Secretary General, Nikolaos Papaefstathiou.
The Municipality of Florina is in constant cooperation with the Region of Western Macedonia, Civil Protection, and all involved services, in order to address promptly and effectively the needs that arose from the extreme weather conditions, as stated in the official announcement.
