A video-document showing the moment a Russian drone hits a Turkish-owned commercial ship in the Black Sea was released on Friday night, capturing the attack at the port of Chornomorsk, one of the main ports in the Odesa region.
In the footage, recorded by a Turkish sailor on a nearby vessel, an Iranian-made Shahed drone can be clearly seen heading toward its target, with the characteristic engine noise audible just before impact.

According to Ukrainian authorities, the Russian attack with drones and missiles caused damage to a total of three Turkish-owned ships in ports of Odesa. Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister, Oleksiy Kuleba, stated that “the attack targeted the non-military supply chain and commercial shipping,” adding that “Russia systematically attacks port infrastructure that enables the transport of food and cargo to global markets.”
The managing company Cenk Denizcilik reported that the cargo ship M/V CENK T, which was carrying food, came under an air attack shortly before docking at the port, around 16:00 local time, resulting in a fire breaking out in the bow.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky claimed that the strike proves Moscow is not taking diplomatic efforts to end the war seriously, noting that “Russia continues to hit normal life and commercial activity.”
Turkey’s reaction
The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs called for the immediate cessation of attacks that threaten navigation, port facilities, and energy infrastructure in the Black Sea.
In its statement, it emphasized that an immediate ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine is critical in order to avoid further escalation in the region and to ensure the safety of commercial shipping.
