An explosion occurred at a bar in Crans-Montana, a well-known ski resort in Switzerland, resulting in deaths and injuries, police announced today.

“An explosion of unknown cause occurred,” Gaëtan Laton, a spokesperson for the Valais cantonal police, told AFP. “There are many injured and many dead,” he added.

Unverified video circulating on social media shows a fire burning at a bar where New Year’s Eve celebrations were taking place.

According to police, a helpline has been set up for the families of those affected.

Crans-Montana is a luxury ski resort located in the heart of the Swiss Alps, about two hours from the Swiss capital, Bern.
