GPO: New Democracy widens its lead to 13.7 points; potential vote at 20.1% for Karystianou, 17.6% for Tsipras

An increase of 4.6 points among the undecided compared to November – 54.2% say no to Greece’s participation in Trump’s “Peace Council”

Newsroom January 28 08:39

A decline in percentages for most parties and a strengthening of the pool of undecided voters is recorded in the GPO opinion poll presented on Star TV’s main news bulletin.

In voting intention, New Democracy (ND) records 24.5%, compared to 25.2% last November in the previous GPO poll for Star. Despite a drop of 0.7%, the governing party widens its lead over PASOK, which stands at 10.8%, down from 12.6% last November. Greek Solution is in third place with 9.6%, compared to 10.4% in November. Fourth is Course of Freedom (Plefsi Eleftherias), which increases its share to 8.2% from 5.8%.

They are followed by: KKE 6.8%, SYRIZA 4.2%, Voice of Reason 2.8%, MeRA25 2.1%, New Left 2%, Niki 1.9%, Democracy Movement 1.8%. Undecided voters rise to 17.9% from 13.3% last November.

New parties

One in five respondents appears as a potential voter for Maria Karystianou: 20.1% of those surveyed say it is very or fairly likely they would vote for her party in the next national elections.

Maria Karystianou seems to have greater penetration among voters of Voice of Reason, Course of Freedom, Niki, Greek Solution, as well as among the undecided.

Regarding Maria Karystianou’s position on abortions, 19.2% agree or rather agree, while 68.1% disagree or rather disagree.

The company had not measured potential support for the “Karystianou party” in its November survey for Star. It had, however, measured the “Tsipras party,” for which it now records a smaller pool. 17.6% of respondents say it is very or fairly likely they would vote for his under-formation political movement in the next elections, down from 21.8% in the previous Star poll.

47% want a single-party government

Citizens are divided between coalition governments and single-party governments. 48.8% prefer a coalition government after the national elections, while 47% prefer a single-party government. However, a large majority—69.5%—would prefer a different government to be elected, while 25.2% want ND to continue governing with Kyriakos Mitsotakis as Prime Minister.
