Agiokampos flooded in Larissa: Roads and sea became one (videos)

The force of the water was so great that equipment and outdoor items from accommodation facilities were swept away – New “red warning” from the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY) – Where the highest rainfall totals were recorded

Newsroom February 1 03:01

Severe problems were caused by the heavy rainfall in Agiokampos near the Calatrava bridge, as a stream overflowed and the waters ended up in the coastal zone, sweeping away objects from rental rooms located close to the seafront.

It is characteristic that, due to the force of the water, the road and the sea became one. There is a shop at the spot, and the water entered inside, causing extensive damage.

The owner of the grocery store, which was completely destroyed by the overflowing stream, broke down in tears on camera for Alpha TV.

According to initial information, the overflow occurred within a short period of time, as the area’s streams began to carry very large volumes of water. Equipment and outdoor items from accommodation facilities were swept away by the flow, while no injuries have been reported so far.

Residents and professionals in the area are advised to exercise increased caution, as the weather phenomena continue to affect the coastal areas of Larissa, with streams remaining at elevated flow levels.

Meanwhile, municipal services were on alert from early on, carrying out works in order to prevent any adverse developments.

New “red warning” from the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY)
The severe weather that has been affecting the country since Saturday evening is ongoing. Shortly before noon, heavy rainfall was recorded in Attica, while in places the phenomena are more intense, as the rain is accompanied by strong winds.

At the same time, the EMY issued a new “red warning” after the Emergency Bulletin for the Forecast of Dangerous Weather Phenomena was updated with the latest forecast data. In particular, the intense phenomena in many areas will be accompanied by strong winds of up to 8 to 9 Beaufort and possibly by local hailstorms.
